We are already in Back to School season, and maybe you are thinking about buying a new laptop to help you with your daily tasks, but many computers tend to overpromise and underdeliver or cost much more than you would be willing to pay.
If you want an affordable laptop that meets your expectations, you might be interested in reviewing these five models that we present today:
Back To School Laptop #1: Lenovo Thinkpad T420 / 420s
Okay. This isn't the newest model, and it's not the prettiest one. But if you go to social media, you will realize that it has a big community behind it. To put things in perspective, many consider the T420 to be better than its later generations, surpassing many computers released this year.
For a price close to 200 bucks, you can get an incredibly durable laptop (militarily tested, resistant to splashes, dust, scratches, and falls). We can assure you that you will have one of the toughest laptops in your class, and the BEST keyboard in the world. You will thank this feature when you write essays and have to spend a lot of time in front of your computer.
One of the reasons we recommend this laptop instead of the T430 is precisely its keyboard... Yeah... It's THAT good.
You also get an Intel Core i5 processor upgradeable, 320 GB of SSD storage expandable, 8 GB of RAM (scalable) and a DVD drive which is very easy to switch fo another SSD/HDD.
Back To School Laptop #2: Lenovo E595
This is a 2019 laptop. It is the cheap series of Thinkpads, so the materials will not be able to withstand the same damage as the T series, but you do get the best hardware available at the best price.
This laptop costs less than $600 and offers you an AMD Ryzen 7 processor, 8GB RAM, 256 SSD and a beautiful 15.6 inches matte screen.
It is important to note that AMD processors have proven to perform better than their Intel competitors (at the expense of more consumer battery power). And they are also much cheaper.
But if you want to spend a little more and buy the version with Intel processors, the E590 is your thing.
This model includes a numeric keypad, which is an advantage for doing calculation and tasks where you have to use a lot of numbers. It also has the best keyboard on the market (after the T420... if you look at several reviews, you will notice that thinkpads are praised precisely for the unmatched quality and comfort of their keyboards).
Back To School Laptop #3: Microsoft Surface Laptop (1st Gen)
Yes, we already know that there is a newer generation, but in terms of quality/price, we consider that this one is ahead.
The Surface Laptop is designed with one word in mind: Portability
Its design is super compact and very pleasant to transport. Its construction makes it perfect for you to carry in your backpack like any other book, with the assurance that it will be able to withstand daily use without deteriorating.
Its keyboard is excellent, its screen is very clear, and its overall construction feels good quality. You have several options to choose from, but we recommend that you get an Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM and 256 GB of SSD Storage. This would be more than enough for any task and would not waste unnecessary resources.
Back To School Laptop #4: Honor MagicBook Pro
This is another 2019 laptop that differs from the others because of its 16.1-inch screen
This one is perfect for consuming content, programming and reading more lines of code, writing essays more comfortably and in general, have more space to work but at the cost of being a little more difficult to transport.
Although Huawei recently announced it as a competitor to Apple's announcement of a 16-inch MacBook, this computer has a strong inspiration in the company's designs. In fact, it looks so much like a MacBook that many might argue that it is a clone of this line of products. But if this doesn't matter to you, go ahead!
It comes with an Intel i5 8265U processor, 8 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce MX250 graphics card for your occasional games and some other image/video editing, 512 GB SSD and sturdy aluminum case which makes it ideal for everyday use.
Back To School Laptop #5: MacBook Air
Well… If you want the best Mac for school, this is the one for you.
It's portable, It's comfortable, it's smooth, and it's a Mac... Also, it's 1$ below our 1K Limit…
Good luck on this new academic year!
